China is the UAE’s leading trading partner, with total trade exceeding $100 billion (by 2024). In this context, during a working visit to China, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Managing Director and CEO of ADNOC Group, and Chairman of Masdar, met with a number of Chinese business leaders and government officials.

This visit aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and expand cooperation in vital areas, including energy, renewable energy, industry, and infrastructure.

The visit included meetings between Dr. Al Jaber and several prominent Chinese leaders, including the Minister of Finance, the Chairman of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

During the visit, Dr. Al Jaber also held several meetings with senior private sector officials and CEOs of several Chinese companies, including Zhenhua Oil Company, Wanhua Chemical Company, China Investment Corporation (CIC), China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), one of the world’s largest energy and petrochemical companies, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNOOC), Envision, a company specializing in renewable energy solutions and smart energy management technologies, China Energy Corporation (CEEC), which operates in energy and infrastructure projects, and PowerChina International.

During these meetings, developments in cooperation in the fields of energy, renewable energy, oil and gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and refining, petrochemicals, shipping, and strategic storage were discussed. They also discussed ways to enhance investments in areas of mutual interest and explore opportunities to develop industrial infrastructure projects. This reflects the two friendly countries’ commitment to strengthening industrial and technical partnerships that contribute to knowledge transfer, technology localization, and enhanced competitiveness.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber affirmed that the UAE is focused on building partnerships that contribute to achieving sustainable growth. He reiterated the UAE’s unwavering commitment to strengthening and expanding the horizons of the comprehensive strategic partnership with China, and to seeking to launch new projects that serve the development goals of both countries, contribute to supporting the growth of national companies, and enhance cooperation between the public and private sectors, in a way that achieves common interests and accelerates sustainable growth in the two friendly countries.
