Libya Cooperates with the United States to Develop the Oil and Clean Energy Sector
The Minister of Oil and Gas of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Khalifa Abdul-Sadig, met with Jeremy Brent, Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Libya. They discussed investment opportunities in developing the oil sector according to the highest international standards. The meeting also addressed opportunities for cooperation in the fields of associated gas and clean energy with specialized American companies to support Libya’s transformation into a more sustainable and efficient economy.
According to the Libyan News Agency, Abdul-Sadig stated that American and international companies operating in Libya have contributed to supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Oil and the National Oil Corporation to increase production rates and modernize infrastructure, which has positively impacted the stability and development of the oil and gas sector.
He also stressed the importance of developing downstream industries, especially petrochemicals and polymers, as a strategic pillar for diversifying national income sources and maximizing the added value of Libya’s oil resources.
Abdul-Sadig extended an official invitation to the American side to participate in the first Libyan-American Energy Forum, which the National Oil Corporation is preparing to organize. He emphasized that this event will be a strategic platform for strengthening partnerships and expanding cooperation, alongside the Libya Energy and Economy Summit scheduled for January 2026.
It is worth noting that Libya’s current production stands at approximately 1.4 million barrels of oil per day, approximately 53,000 barrels of condensate, and approximately 2.6 billion cubic feet of natural gas. The National Oil Corporation affirms its continued operation at high rates, despite the challenges, to maintain stable production and ensure the flow of supplies to the local and global markets.
